DENVER -- The idea--Spa4 the Pink--is the brain-child of Julie Bach. She has come up with a system that will allow cancer centers around the nation to treat cancer patients to a program which will help them re-connect with themselves.
"We know that when women in particular, undergo cancer treatments, they forget to pamper themselves in many ways," said Bach.
"We help them with simple things like a manicure and pedicure, massages, facial and skin treatments. We even bring in yoga and meditation folks to help them forget a little bit about what they are going through."
The Anchutz Pavilion Cancer Center at University Hospital hosted a free-day for women with cancer. By all accounts, the women loved the program.
Millie Freeney-Hilton, a retired professor with breast cancer, said she was taking advantage of several of the services.
"I got a massage and some skin treatment, and I will do some yoga and meditation before I get a facial," said the Denver woman. The program also has a way that anyone can help, buy purchasing a box that can contain art therapy items or skin care products.
Their purchase will then allow Spa4 the Pink to give a pre-paid box to another cancer victim free of charge... they call it Share2 (share squared).
The program has its own web site for you to get involved. www.spa4thepink.
